Saturday, Feb 8th– Explore an area of the Alentejo known for it’s blacksmith’s and basket makers. Walk through a land of contrasts between clay and sand, from montado to pine forests, cork oaks, holm oaks, and olive trees. Experience the natural beauty of this region with it’s vast plains and scenic viewpoints of the distant horizon. At the end of the walk visit local artesan studios and enjoy lunch in a traditonal restaurant tasting the regional specialties.
Distance/Duration: 14km – 4-4.5hrs – max elevation 227m
Moderate Level 2 – Accessible to those in good physical health and who are used to walking. On the route we may encounter some steeper differences in level and areas where the ground may be more difficult and uneven.
Must Take – 1.5L Water, Hat, Sunscreen, Lunch, Shoes with good grip for hiking, Clothing appropriate for the weather conditions.
