Monday, March 3rd – Tuesday, March 4th, – Explore the coastal areas of the Coimbra region a land of beaches, lagoons, estuaries, forests, and farmlands. Will do 2 different walks that allow you to feel this territory it’s people and traditions. We will get to know the dune system, pass by traditional haystacks and visit a beautiful lagoon located between the forest and the sea. On Carnival Tuesday experience a little lesser known celebration.
Monday March 1st – After lunch in a picturesque sea side village we will do a short circular through a vast dune field considered the widest and best preserved in the central region that is home to some unique flowers and vegetation.
Distance/Duration: 6km/1.5-2.5hrs
Moderate Level 2 – Accessible to those in good physical health and who are used to walking. On the route we may encounter some steeper differences in level and areas where the ground may be more difficult and uneven.
Tuesday, March 4th – Carnival Tuesday will start the morning with a circular hike through lagoons, and pine forests with stunning landscape scenes on a circular hike 15km. After the hike we will experience the caretos and carnival traditions of the area before returning to Lisbon.
Distance/Duration: 15km/4.5hrs
Easy Level 1 – Accessible to those in good physical health and who are used to walking.
Must Take – 1.5L Water, Hat, Sunscreen, Lunch, Shoes with good grip for hiking, Clothing appropriate for the weather conditions.
