Saturday, March 22nd– Embark on a scenic journey through an authentic and secret part of the Alentejo. Enjoy vast landscape views on a hike around a dam with crystal clear waters, tranquil forested paths popular with bird watching enthusiasts. Pass by small vegetable gardens with fruit trees, olive trees, and fig trees and get to know the historcial heritage of the area on a walk that blends nature and culture. After the hike we will attend a gastronomy festival in an old cereal drying, milling and rice husking factory where you can taste creative rice dishes. A celebration of a product that once held a place of great importance in the region’s economy.
Distance/Duration – 8km/2-3hrs
Moderate Level 2 – Accessible to those who are in good physical health and who are used to walking. On the route we may encounter some steeper differences in level and areas where the ground may be more difficult and uneven.
Must Take – 1.5L Water, Hat, Sunscreen, Lunch, Shoes with good grip for hiking, Clothing appropriate for the weather conditions.
