Saturday, Dec 14th – Get to know Ponte de Sor a place that was once part of the Roman military road from Lisbon to Mérida. The route will follow along the river Sor passing old remains of water mills, a new bridge with an interesting architecture, as well as the old roman bridge. We will also walk through cork oak forests, and rural areas, to sound of running water and birdsong. After the hike we will have lunch at a local restaurant where we can try the regional specialties followed by a visit to a cultural space that is housed in an old cereal mill and rice husking factory.
Distance/Duration: 12km/4hrs
Moderate Level 2 – Accessible to those in good physical health and who are used to walking. On the route we may encounter some steeper differences in level and areas where the ground may be more difficult and uneven.
Must Take – 1.5L Water, Hat, Sunscreen, Lunch, Shoes with good grip for hiking, Clothing appropriate for the weather conditions.
