Friday, April 25th – Sunday, April 27th Escape the ordinary with our exclusive weekend adventure combining natural beauty, ancient heritage, and vibrant local culture. This carefully curated experience takes you to one of Portugal’s hidden treasures during a colorful and traditional festival, a celebration of gastronomy, a unique breed of local horse, and culture which allows you to discover what the best of this region has to offer.
Upon arrival on Friday enjoy a local lunch followed by visits to archaeological sites, stud farms, and musuems before checking into your chosen accommodation late afternoon. Free time to relax and or explore in the evening.
On Saturday morning begin your day with an optional spectacular hike on a trail, winding through cork oak forests and rolling hills dotted with wildflowers. This moderate 9.5km 2.5/3hrs hike rewards adventurers with breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and leads to a majestic medieval castle perched atop ancient hills. As you traverse paths once walked by knights and nobles, learn about the history that dates back to Roman times and has shaped this mystical landscape for centuries.
After your hike, immerse yourself in the joyful atmosphere of the festival. Mingle with locals, browse artisanal crafts, sample regional delicacies and watch horse shows. An experience that will show you traditions which have been passed down through generations.
Sunday we will explore another nearby village on an optional moderate hike of 8km 2.5-3.5hrs. A peaceful journey through endless fields marked by the living presence of a river with its dams, which were once watermill dams and are now important biodiversity hotspots. This is a short circular route where you can see many different natural landscapes along the way. Afterwards enjoy free time to explore and head back to Lisbon after lunch.
